Jacqueline hails from Sunny California and doesn’t miss it (‘cept for the Sunny part.)
In order to pursue a career in film, she moved to New York in 2006 to enroll in the Digital Film Academy (Other Alum, Chadwick Boseman… No big deal). While enrolled at DFA, she worked with producers at Leopard Films USA in the development and research division, helping with development of shows like The Club and Hidden Potential.
Jacqueline’s main focus has always been on editing and an internship with 24 FPS Productions put her in the edit suite and allowed her to shape various television pilots for the production company. The experience she gained there gave her the confidence to pursue projects on her own. Jacqueline edited the 2008 short film Elle and Guy, an Accolade Film of Merit Winner. As well as Billy Bob The Movie, an official selection of the New York New Filmmakers Festival. She also worked with Tummy touch records cutting music videos and marketing content for various artists on the label. She even got the opportunity to coordinate and produce some live performances, most notably The Phenomenal Handclap Band at the WIRED Pop-Up Store in Times Square. Jacqueline continued to cut her teeth scrubbing through endless amounts of footage as an Assistant Editor at Leftfield Pictures, where she collaborated with producers to edit and develop stories and was integral in training other assistant editors. She also traveled with various production teams editing and managing media. As well as assisting in the camera and production departments.
In 2013 Jacqueline relocated to Chicago and continued her career working with companies like: Energy BBDO, McGarry Bowen, The Onion, Free Spirit Media, and Univision. Her projects included commercials, television, broadcast news, social impact, short docs and more. Along with her editorial skills Jacqueline has been known to trade the knobs and dials in the edit suite for a walkie talkie and surveillance on set. She has had the awesome privilege to work on local commercial shoots, ride in a van across the United States on several captivating TV series and flown internationally as part of a small crew to film and interview youth activists in Cambodia. Over the years her fervent desire to continually expand her skill set has allowed her to have many great work experiences.
In 2020 she relocated once more. This time to the steel city! (Also known as Pittsburgh.) Upon arrival, and looking for a distraction to the global pandemic she started a food business with her husband. Posting up outside local bars and farmers markets to sell Mexican food, mostly. However, as fate would have it, just as she was gearing up for a busy day at the farmers market she received an unexpected call from an old colleague. They were calling to ask if she would be interested in working on an exciting and independent new film! So, for the past 18 months she has been the assistant editor on a feature documentary following two young brothers from Bristol Bay, Alaska (home to the last and largest wild salmon run in the world) who travel to some of the largest mines across the US and Canada looking to shine a light on the actual impacts mining has on local communities.
Jacqueline has always strived to work on smart and impactful work and over the years she has had the pleasure of doing so with many talented filmmakers, companies, agencies and organizations. Jacqueline brings a varied and well rounded skill set to work with her every day, one that she has acquired over the years not just in video editing, but color, sound, and some light animation. She loves her profession and feels comfortable in this constantly changing environment. She can manage a multitude of varying assignments and communicate in a timely manner. Her tirelessness and creativity are great assets in doing so.
Jacqueline is staying put (for now) living and freelancing in Pittsburgh, PA.
